Just finished reading Atheism 101 and it really gave me a few things to google throughout, such as the flying spaghetti monster, Darwin’s deathbed and the fox news war on xmas (very entertaining those articles are).
You did make me feel quite stupid though when you ask if we remember anything before we were born. I cannot believe I have never thought about it like that. Can’t wait till that one comes up against some loud mouthed christian hehe.
I guess I’ve been an atheist for around 10 years, agnostic before that but never been brought up to practise the religion which I think is the most case for people in the UK. I have a friend who got christened just so he could be the god father to his friends baby, he said ‘means nothing for someone to splash a bit of water on my head’.
I was slowly becoming one of those atheists who just call religious people stupid for believing in god and I didn’t want to become that person. With reading this now I know I’ll be able to stay calm, recite a few pages and know that I can stand my ground in any debate whilst not being rude to anyone.
We set our own moral targets 🙂
